Worship Matters Chapter 7

    How should worship leaders deal with others' when they criticize and judge your work? In this chapter of Worship Matters, Bob talked about his experience during his career. And like others, we could all get a little excited when we get others' feedback about our work. Whether if it is encouragements or criticisms, Bob suggests us to follow what God wants us to do, because the basic of worship is to follow and serve God. If we failed to act as leaders, then we would failed to serve him and bring others close to him.

    Like what Bob keeps urging us to do, I think listening to God is a very important way to find direction for ourselves and the team. We always get feedbacks from others and try to change many things in order to become what everyone wants. It is necessary to do that, but we should also make sure what we are changing is permitted and aimed for better delivery of God's grace. There are also people who ignores and pursue what they think is right, but in the end, not only crowd dislike the service, it will affects your relationship with God and others.

    Continue on Bob's dissection on how to be an effective worship leader. In this chapter, Bob starts to go further on and explain the term of "Worship Leader".  He stressed that worship is unique in its own way. We should not try to convert it to something else that does not fit the theme. We also should  cherish worship as a important component of church, because it supports people not through normal expression but through musical energy. The effect of such way can not only keep people's interests, but also to guide them toward God even more.

   I have to agree with Bob's point of view. Worship to me is what that has to exist in a church. Without worship, the service won't be complete with spiritual comfort. I think worship is a very special that somehow allows everyone to connect with God in the same time and space. When worship works and carries out the energy, the effect can be described as magical. Thus as worship leader, we have a significant duty in different services, that is to spread the power of Christ.

Worship Matters Chapter 1 Reflection

      It is very common when temptations struck us and lead us to doubt the power of God. My friends had all been through struggle when they found themselves in pain and felt hopeless in their difficult situations. Evan I felt pressure like that during my own time when I face my own troubles. Lucky enough, through Bob Kauflin's book , Worship Matters, I was able to realize the principles of being the Lord's faithful servant. In the first chapter, Bob mainly talked about his experience as a worship leader and his own interpretations about how to be a fair worship leader. To my deepest impression, I enjoyed reading how Bob dealt with times when temptation and pride got in his mind, because we all have the same issues when we got attached to our own benefits that we ignored what worship and being the God's follower is all about. Bob points out his solutions as to always believe in God's existence that he will always be with us. And as his lamb, we should follow the guidance and rules to keep away from those temptations.

       I enjoy reading Bob's own experience, it inspired me to carry on my spiritual journey, and encouraged me to get closer to the realm of spirit. When we make decisions, we should always step back a little and think "Am I doing this for myself or for what's good?". To carry the duty of a worship leader is to stay connected with God and help others to connect with God. Of course, there will be time when we can hardly feel the existence of God, but that doesn't mean he gave up on us. Like many bible verses said, God will never leave his people and he will always love his people. So, whatever happens, we should keep this in mind, that God is with us and he cares about us.
