Why aren't we singing?

Graham Kendrick stated facts that the crowds don't sing along during worship. He suggested possible reasons that songs might be too difficult, which sets might have special requirements for vocals and volume, which might be difficult for common people who do not have musical experience. As a result, people would usually sing along songs that are simple to follow. If a song depends on its structure and melody itself, it could be easy to fall apart. So he suggested that worship music performance should be solid, and the lyrics on the screen should have effects on people. Don't come church to worship but to worship, Graham wishes people can be more positive during worship, and donate themselves to the process of worship.

As far as my experience goes, it had been a common fact that less people are following the band during worship. I agree with Kendrick that a worship performance should have its standards that fit with the crowds. Songs should have quality that allow people to sing along and lyrics should have unique power that can get into others' hearts. While the band need to have its attention on the sets, crowds should dive themselves into the worship, so a better worship environment can be created.
